Name : Adam Graham / Alias : Detroit News
The cast has a natural chemistry and the shop has an authentic feel. Even as things get preachy, the quips keep customers coming through the door.

Name : Mick LaSalle / Alias : San Francisco Chronicle
"Barbershop: The Next Cut" is a funny movie, but also a serious movie, and - who knows? - maybe an important one.

Name : Rafer Guzman / Alias : Newsday
The franchise hasn't improved quality-wise, but the racially charged humor still crackles.

Name : Sandy Cohen / Alias : Associated Press
Director Malcolm D. Lee and writers Kenya Barris and Tracy Oliver develop each of these characters enough to deliver a winning ensemble comedy with multiple story lines and just the right dose of realistic drama.

Name : Jesse Hassenger / Alias : AV Club
A movie theater, like a barbershop, is a communal space, and the clamorous conversation plays especially well to a crowd eager to spend time with a bunch of likable stars.

Name : Frank Scheck / Alias : Hollywood Reporter
A cut above.

Name : Barbara VanDenburgh / Alias : Arizona Republic
Calvin's Barbershop is the same familiar comfort it has always been, to both its patrons and filmgoers.

Name : Edward Douglas / Alias : New York Daily News
The Next Cut is a true love letter to Chicago, but one that doesn't ignore the hard truth about the problems the city still faces.

Name : Leah Pickett / Alias : Chicago Reader
The fourth entry in the Barbershop franchise delivers keen social commentary, bringing back many of the key players from the 2002 and 2004 installments.

Name : Melissa Anderson / Alias : Village Voice
Glutted even more than its predecessors with ancient fellas-versus-females debates, ungainly sociopolitical commentary, and top-40 superstars trying to diversify their brands.

Name : Alonso Duralde / Alias : TheWrap
Spike Lee took a much less prosaic look at Chicago's gang violence in last year's challenging Chi-Raq, but this more straightforward presentation will probably find more traction among mainstream audiences.

Name : A.O. Scott / Alias : New York Times
The most fascinating - and the most moving - thing about this sprawling, sincere and boisterous movie is its tone.

Name : Joshua Rothkopf / Alias : Time Out
It's refreshing to encounter a sequel that leans deeper into sociopolitical realities, not further away.

Name : Leah Greenblatt / Alias : Entertainment Weekly
The movie . offers what any barbershop worth its repeat customers provides: An hour or two of good company, and the feeling that you're leaving a little sharper than when you came in.

Name : Bruce Demara / Alias : Toronto Star
There are enough moments that feel both real and true to make one hope the latest cut isn't the final one.

Name : Edward Douglas / Alias : New York Daily News
"The Next Cut" is a true love letter to Chicago, but one that doesn't ignore the hard truth about the problems the city still faces.

Name : Peter Travers / Alias : Rolling Stone
It's stagey, often simplistic and it talks too damn much. But, hell, the talk has flavor and snap and a real-world sense of a community in crisis. Not bad for an escapist romp.

Name : Lou Lumenick / Alias : New York Post
[Lee] handles the huge, excellent ensemble and tonal shifts with skill as the crew argues about sexism and politics, along the way mocking everyone from President Obama and R. Kelly to Bill Cosby and the Kardashians.

Name : Justin Chang / Alias : Variety
Ice Cube, Cedric the Entertainer and a fresh cast of hair-cutting cut-ups ground this overly earnest but not-unwelcome third 'Barbershop' feature.

Name : Calvin Wilson / Alias : St. Louis Post-Dispatch
"Barbershop: The Next Cut" combines the broad comedy that moviegoers have come to expect from the franchise with social commentary that's surprisingly effective.

Name : Brad Wheeler / Alias : Globe and Mail
Next time? Just a little off the top please, and leave the socio-political commentary to others.

Name : Tirdad Derakhshani / Alias : Philadelphia Inquirer
Instead of offering easy answers, Barbershop: The Next Cut raises important, difficult, and timely questions.

Name : Stephanie Zacharek / Alias : TIME Magazine
This Barbershop is simply a place where we can all laugh together, sometimes at ideas that veer close to being explosive.

Name : Richard Roeper / Alias : Chicago Sun-Times
Just about everything else clicks, thanks in no small part to the wonderful performances from the deep cast.

Name : Alan Zilberman / Alias : Washington Post
Just as the men and women at Calvin's Barbershop are older and have more responsibilities, so too is "Barbershop: The Next Cut" more mature than its cinematic predecessors.

Name : Mark Olsen / Alias : Los Angeles Times
"The Next Cut" manages to be entertaining and thoughtful, harmless fun but just serious enough not to seem frivolous.

Name : Colin Covert / Alias : Minneapolis Star Tribune
It's not groundbreaking stuff, but it's solid fun. If a studio is going to deliver a niche audience high-concept, low-cost films, this is the way to go.

Name : Bruce Kirkland / Alias : Toronto Sun
As politically savvy as it is raucous and funny, Barbershop: The Next Cut is a stylish cut above its predecessors.

Name : Tom Russo / Alias : Boston Globe
For a freshly-shaved-chin wag, "The Next Cut" covers ambitious ground.

Name : Bilge Ebiri / Alias : New York Magazine/Vulture
It's all dumb, but fun.

Name : Nicolas Rapold / Alias : New York Times
A diverting and, here and there, rather funny journey for the museum stalwart Larry and his menagerie of Teddy Roosevelt, a miniature Roman general, a Neanderthal, a capuchin monkey and others.

Name : John Semley / Alias : Globe and Mail
Funny, charming kiddie-flick fare.

Name : Michael Rechtshaffen / Alias : Hollywood Reporter
Time to hang up the "Closed for Renovation" sign.

Name : Lindsey Bahr / Alias : Associated Press
In the end, "Secret of the Tomb" certainly wasn't necessary, but its earnest goofiness is hard to resist.

Name : Stephen Whitty / Alias : Newark Star-Ledger
The exhibits in this "Night at the Museum" may still come to life nightly. But their latest movie stays stubbornly inert.

Name : Tom Russo / Alias : Boston Globe
Assuming Wilson isn't being eyed as Stiller's replacement (or are we starting rumors?), it's satisfying to see this series ultimately shake off the relic dust and bow out with energy.

Name : Ignatiy Vishnevetsky / Alias : AV Club
Frankly, there isn't a whole lot about this scenario that isn't disturbing on some level.

Name : J. R. Jones / Alias : Chicago Reader
Ben Stiller, Steve Coogan, Owen Wilson, Ricky Gervais - all of them were considered edgy when they first arrived on the scene, but for some performers an edge is just something you use to pry open the piggy bank.

Name : Claudia Puig / Alias : USA Today
Where the previous films felt frenetic and forced, this outing feels breezier, more enjoyable and less contrived.

Name : Soren Anderson / Alias : Seattle Times
What is unexpected is the depth of emotion of many of the situations .

Name : Bill Goodykoontz / Alias : Arizona Republic
"Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb" is a rather lackluster affair, a cash grab that tries to aim a little higher but confuses sappy shortcuts with real emotion.

Name : Joe McGovern / Alias : Entertainment Weekly
It's kind of fun, unembarrassingly, and not least of all because the people who made it look like they had a good time doing so.

Name : Steven Rea / Alias : Philadelphia Inquirer
Like many a sequel that has exhausted its plot possibilities, Secret of the Tomb looks abroad to add color and culture.

Name : Tom Huddleston / Alias : Time Out
The most worthy figure from British history the writers can think to reincarnate is - wait for it - Sir Lancelot.

Name : Joe Williams / Alias : St. Louis Post-Dispatch
Granted, this series is primarily for kids, but nobody should feel dumber after watching a movie with "museum" in the title.

Name : Kristin Tillotson / Alias : Minneapolis Star Tribune
Ben Stiller and crew go for the easy laughs, spackling the cracks in their armor with a cavalcade of marquee-name cameos and one dizzying action scene after another.

Name : Sara Stewart / Alias : New York Post
More meh than manic, too reliant on wide shots of the ragtag Museum of Natural History cohorts striding down corridors.

Name : Tony Hicks / Alias : San Jose Mercury News
Levy - who directed all three movies - just couldn't muster up enough freshness to make this installment stand out from others.

Name : Alonso Duralde / Alias : TheWrap
Because when young children go to see a movie about dinosaur skeletons and a capuchin monkey who come alive at night in a museum, what they really want is to hear a divorced dad nagging his teen son about the value of an education.

Name : Michael O'Sullivan / Alias : Washington Post
Other than some stock establishing shots of London, the British setting is wasted, as are Ben Kingsley and Ricky Gervais, who, at times, seem almost embarrassed to be caught on camera.

Name : Joe Neumaier / Alias : New York Daily News
There's a serenity to museum visits, especially if it's a place you know and love. "Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb," amazingly, recaptures that feeling in big-studio franchise form.

Name : Tom Long / Alias : Detroit News
There are some key elements that make this "Night at the Museum" sequel work better than its predecessor.

Name : Scott Foundas / Alias : Variety
An altogether satisfying end to a series that has been vastly more entertaining than it had any reason to be.

Name : Stephanie Zacharek / Alias : Village Voice
The third installment, Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb may be the best, and even the generally wound-too-tight Ben Stiller - once again playing a bemused Museum of Natural History guard - is easy to tolerate.

Name : Rafer Guzman / Alias : Newsday
Williams glows briefly in one of his final roles, but the overall magic feels dim.

Name : Walter V. Addiego / Alias : San Francisco Chronicle
Mainly for "Night at the Museum" diehards.

Name : Michael Phillips / Alias : Chicago Tribune
It's a hectic pileup, this movie, but at least in its final laps it takes the time to say its goodbyes more or less properly.

Name : Peter Howell / Alias : Toronto Star
